Five(5) Things You Should Know About José Peseiro, New Super Eagles Head Coach.

Following the sack of the former Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr, the earlier speculations of José Peseiro being appointed as the new Super Eagles boss was however made official, yesterday, being the 15th of May 2022, by the NIGERIA FOOTBALL FEDERATION. This comes after Interim coach, Augustine Eguavoen, stepped down as the caretaker coach, after failing to qualify the Super Eagles team for the Qatar 2022 World Cup, coming up in November.

Without further ado, here are FIVE THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT THE NEW SUPER EAGLES BOSS, JOSÉ PESEIRO.

1) IDENTITY:

José Peseiro’s full name is José Vítor dos santos Peseiro. Born to Portuguese parents, João Peseiro (Father) and Silvéria Peseiro (Mother) on the 4th of April 1960, in his home town, Coruche, Santarém, Portugal. He’s aged 62 years.

2) FAMILY:

José Peseiro, wife and children.

José Peseiro is married to Fatima Peseiro and the couple is blessed with Two children, a Son, Vítor Hugo Peseiro and a Daughter, Susana Peseiro.

3) PLAYING CAREER: Born in Coruche, José Peseiro began his playing career in Sport Lisboa e cartaxo in 1970. He further went on to represent Amora FC, Clube Oriental de Lisboa, Samora Correia and S.C.U Torreense, for a total of FIVE Seasons. At 37, he retired at the end of the 1993-94 Season, in the fourth division, with local club, União Santarém.

4) COACHING CAREER:

José Peseiro started out as a player-coach at União Santarém, in the 1992-94 season. He went on to coach several clubs in his country, including Sporting CP, which he saw to the UEFA CUP FINAL. He further went on to coach teams from the UAE, as well as the Venezuelan National Football team.
